Location shows "Last seen X hours ago"

The child's device may have lost internet connectivity, or background location has been restricted. On Android: go to Settings β†’ Apps β†’ GuardianShield β†’ Battery β†’ select "Unrestricted". On iOS: go to Settings β†’ Privacy β†’ Location Services β†’ GuardianShield β†’ select "Always". Ensure mobile data is enabled for the GuardianShield app.

Location is inaccurate (showing wrong place)

GPS accuracy depends on signal. Indoors or in dense urban areas, GuardianShield uses Wi-Fi positioning as a supplement. In Standard Mode, location updates every 5 minutes β€” activate Live Mode in your parent app for real-time updates. Accuracy improves once the device moves outdoors.

Location is stuck on the same spot

This usually means the child's device is offline or in airplane mode. Check your parent app for "Device offline" status. If the device shows as online, open GuardianShield on the child device and tap the refresh icon to force a location update.

Blocked websites are still loading

On Android, ensure the VPN permission is active: Settings β†’ Network & Internet β†’ VPN β†’ GuardianShield should be connected. On iOS, check that the Supervision Profile is installed: Settings β†’ General β†’ VPN & Device Management. If filtering has stopped after a device update, reinstall the profile.

Child is using a different browser to bypass filtering

GuardianShield filters at the device network level, meaning all traffic is filtered regardless of which browser is used β€” including Chrome, Firefox, and in-app browsers. If a browser is bypassing filtering, please contact our support team as this may indicate a configuration issue specific to your device.

YouTube is showing inappropriate content

Enable Safe Search for YouTube separately in your parent app under Content Settings β†’ YouTube Safe Mode. This enforces YouTube's Restricted Mode at the account level. Note: this requires your child to be signed into a Google account.

I stopped receiving push notifications

Check your phone's notification settings: Settings β†’ Apps β†’ GuardianShield Parent β†’ Notifications β†’ ensure all are enabled. Also check your GuardianShield parent app settings under Alerts to confirm notifications are turned on for each alert category.

I'm not getting geofence arrival alerts

Geofence alerts require the child's device to have Location set to "Always" and mobile data or Wi-Fi active. The geofence trigger has a built-in 60-second delay to prevent false alerts from brief border crossings. Check that your geofence zone radius is at least 100 metres.

SOS / Panic Button alert not arriving

Ensure your parent app notifications are enabled. Panic Button alerts are sent at maximum priority and bypass Do Not Disturb on both Android and iOS. If you still don't receive them, go to your parent app β†’ Settings β†’ Alerts β†’ Panic Button and tap "Send test alert".

GuardianShield keeps stopping on Xiaomi

You need to: (1) Go to Settings β†’ Battery & Performance β†’ choose Manage apps battery usage β†’ find GuardianShield β†’ select "No restrictions". (2) Go to Settings β†’ Apps β†’ GuardianShield β†’ Enable "Autostart". (3) In Security app β†’ Permissions β†’ find GuardianShield β†’ enable all background permissions.

Location stops working after screen off on Xiaomi

In addition to the battery steps above, go to Settings β†’ Location β†’ GuardianShield and ensure "Always" is selected. Also disable "Battery saver" in Settings β†’ Battery to prevent location being suspended when the screen is off.
